Last week was a truly epic week celebrating our 100th birthday! I will never forget singing Happy Birthday to our college, enjoying cake and taking the "100" photo with you on Thursday -- officially Valley College Day in San Bernardino! Each of you is part of our history. Thank you for making it such a festive occasion, and for advocating for our students every day.

I hope Spring Break provided our students and all of you some time to reflect and recharge. For me, I had the opportunity to spend time with Dr. Diana Z. Rodriguez, our chancellor, and Dr. Kevin Horan, President of Crafton Hills College at the CEO Symposium. Let's finish the semester strong as we head toward Commencement 2026!

It is Spring Break at San Bernardino Valley College and along with the break we enjoy a signature IE heat wave. Yesterday, we celebrated the topping off ceremony for the Student Services Building as well as 336 days without an injury on the worksite. I want to thank Chancellor Dr. Diana Z. Rodriguez, Vice Chancellor Dr. Nohemy Ornelas, Trustee Dr. Nathan Gonzales and Trustee Dr. Stephanie Houston as well as hundreds of Wolverines for participating in this event. Special thanks to VPAS Keith Bacon and Barbara Bray--Barbara has done a stellar job leading our centennial events! I also want to thank a good number of faculty who came in support (even during Spring Break).

It was wonderful seeing so many of you at the SBVC Wellbeing + Walking Challenge last week! I can’t wait to learn to see who becomes the Champion of the challenge and the lucky participants who take home the outstanding prizes.

Happy Women's History Month! As we begin March, we celebrate the contributions, leadership, and impact of women throughout history and here at SBVC. We are grateful for the many women across our campus community who help shape Valley College every day.

Last week, we had to postpone the topping off ceremony for the Student Services Building as well as my first pitch at the baseball game. We will provide you with updates when these items are rescheduled.

Last week was another eventful week here at San Bernardino Valley College. I want to especially recognize the meaningful work in Counseling. Our Counseling Department put on a fantastic Grad Check Fest for students, helping hundreds of students complete grad checks, apply for graduation, sign up for various recognition ceremonies, and access resources.

It was a real pleasure last week to spend time at the Black History Month luncheon. I am grateful that Chancellor Rodriguez and Vice Chancellor Hannon were able to join in this celebration honoring leaders making a tremendous difference on campus and in the community.
