Ms. Gutierrez-Sandoval joins San Bernardino Valley College with over two decades of
experience in higher education administration, having served in leadership roles at
institutions such as Long Beach City College, Rio Hondo College, and the University
of La Verne. As the Dean of Enrollment Services at Long Beach City College, she oversaw
comprehensive student services and implemented innovative initiatives such as the
Boys and Girls Club partnership and the Guided Pathways case management program. Her
leadership helped to facilitate enrollment growth, stronger collaboration with instructional
areas, gains in closing equity gaps, and significant improvements in student success
rates.
A passionate advocate for equity and student success, Ms. Gutierrez-Sandoval proudly
began her educational journey in community college. She also has local ties as she
grew up in the Inland Empire. Her professional background includes extensive expertise
across a breadth of Student Services areas such as financial aid, scholarships, veterans'
services, international student programs, and strategic enrollment planning. She has
also served as president of the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators
and is a National Community College Hispanic Council Leadership Fellow. Ms. Gutierrez-Sandoval
holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Claremont Graduate
University and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Pitzer College. Her dedication
to fostering student achievement and her collaborative leadership style will undoubtedly
enhance our efforts to serve our diverse student body.
