Kimberly Pena named Inland Empire Athletic Conference October Athlete of the Month
Freshman Kimberly Pena has the fastest feet in town, as proven during the Inland Empire Athletic Conference championship. Not only did the women's cross country team win the championship, defeating Chaffey College, but Pena also earned the best time, finishing the 5K in 20:45.6. She has been named the conference’s Athlete of the Month for October.
After her stellar showing, Pena was named the IEAC October Athlete of the Month. "I feel honored to be recognized after all the hard work that we've all put in," she said. "Our dedication led to a team and individual championship at the conference meet."
Three SBVC students won top awards in the Pasadena Foothill chapter American Institute
of Architects (AIA) Birdhouse competition, including first place, second place, and
people’s choice. The goals of this birdhouse competition are to encourage construction
of functional and aesthetically pleasing birdhouses using environmentally sensitive
materials. First place winner Kathleen Ellis has since joined the board AIA Inland
CA as the SBVC student representative.
