SBVC Adopts Urbita Elementary School
On December 6, San Bernardino Valley College officially adopted Urbita Elementary
School during a special ceremony on campus. It was the first time a San Bernardino
City Unified School District school adoption was held away from the school's campus,
with all 400 of Urbita's students riding the bus to SBVC, where they were treated
to a ballet and short theater production. Long before the adoption was formalized,
SBVC has welcomed Urbita Elementary students to its campus, where they have participated
in various activities aimed at inspiring them to do well in school and go to college,
said San Bernardino Valley College President Diana Z. Rodriguez. "We are publicly
acknowledging and celebrating the close partnership that has developed between Urbita
and SBVC faculty and administrators," Rodrgiruez said. "SBVC has been an extension
of Urbita's academic environment for many years, and many Urbita alumni have gone
on to SBVC to complete their college education. We are thankful for our partnership
with Urbita and the SBCUSD and hope that it continues to grow stronger." Congratulations,
SBVC!
