Spotlighting Our Success 2024


About

Spotlighting Our Success is the annual award ceremony and employee recognition for the staff and faculty of San Bernardino Valley College. This celebration highlights individuals who are nominated by their peers for the outstanding performance and services provided throughout the year in various categories. The event features a gourmet dinner, catered by the SBVC Culinary Arts Department, followed by academic rank recognitions, categorical awards, and retiree tributes.

Awards

Spotlighting Our Success begins even before the event takes place, where all SBVC employees are encouraged to nominate and vote for their dedicated peers in various categorical achievements. These categories include:

  • Honored Retiree Award - This award honors the contributions of a retired employee who has chosen to stay involved with the college, and whose continued contributions to SBVC demonstrate dedication to our college and community
  • Innovator of the Year - This award honors any employee who has a track record for thinking ‘outside the box’ and who does so in ways that provide a clear benefit to the college and/or community as their innovations are implemented
  • Manager of the Year - This award honors any manager (classified supervisor, director, dean or above) who has demonstrated commitment to supporting their staff, our students and faculty, and whose skills, dedication, and persistence have resulted in outstanding results
  • Excellence Award - This award honors any staff member’s accomplishments in improving campus life, as demonstrated by consistently outstanding performance of their daily work requirements
  • District Employee of the Year - This award honors any district office employee who has demonstrated exceptional effort and commitment to our college’s success over the past year
  • Outstanding Service Award - This award honors any employee who goes above and beyond their usual scope of duties to provide better service to students and colleagues

 

Additional Awards

The event also features award categories that only members within a certain division can nominate and vote. The purpose of these awards is to acknowledge the nominee's exemplary achievements or specific accomplishments, as described by their closest peers. These categories include:

  • Academic Success and Learning Achievement Award
  • Administrative Services, Office of the President, VPI & VPSS Achievement Award
  • Applied Technology, Transportation & Culinary Arts Achievement Award
